Shifty Business Book Tour & Author Guest Post

27 January 2013
First off, I would like to thank Olivia for stopping by with this guest post to give us a little more insight into her life!

I have often wondered was there something about me early on that should have been an indicator that I would be a writer. Was it perhaps the chats I would have with my imaginary friend while sitting on my kiddie-potty? According to my mother they were some pretty extensive conversations.

Or what about later when my sisters and I converted our old single car garage into our own playhouse. Sheets of old cedar siding were stacked to divide the garage into separate rooms. Under my artistic hands a sheet of plywood was painted to be a fireplace. An old set of tiny glass vials and an eye dropper were all I needed to establish my own laboratory… well that and some ground up sheetrock dust mixed with food coloring. I mean, even when playing house a woman needs a profession, right?

Oh and what about romance? My mom and her sisters made the mistake of talking about the Monkees one time during a family meal. My sisters and I had to know who the Monkees were, so thank goodness for Nick at Night. Who else would we be married to in our imaginary world than Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork (Sorry, Mike Nesmith, you were destined to remain single). We even taped a picture of the Monkees to our “play television” so that when the husbands were off on tour we could watch them.

And of course time passed and that old garage got torn down. My imagination wouldn’t let up and soon I had a new star to love… Johnny Depp. I religiously watched 21 Jumpstreet because by then in my mind I was married to Hanson.

And before long it happened. I dreamed about him. It was while my family and I were on vacation in San Antonio. I woke up the next morning and hijacked the hotel notepads and began writing down a story to go along with that dream about Johnny. After that, I was rarely without a notebook to scribble my little dream stories.

So that, as they say, is the rest of the story!

We need a mascot!

Since I have been participating in the Winter Biannual Blogathon Bash, I've been checking out some of the mini-challenges, and while I know most of what they are talking about, I've realized that none of my social media accounts match the blog!! So, as I have been sitting here thinking, I've decided that My Chaotic Ramblings really needs a mascot, I'm not talking some tired old vector graphic that you have seen everywhere, we need a real live (stuffed) mascot. I've gone down my list of obsessions, and have hit a wall!

Here is my list:

Cookie Monster( though I know I can't use him, it is after all my nickname!)

How about a cute Sock Monkey, since I do already have the pink one? My BFF has the other!
Sock Monkey

I'm open to ideas, I also love frogs, cows, cats! Though the blogs mascot doesn't have to be one of those!

Leave a comment here or on facebook with what you think should be our mascot! I'll make a poll right around February first and then you my dear readers get to vote for our mascot!!

My Musical Energy Boost #NaBloPoMo

I've been dealing with moving and having no internet for the last few weeks and have fallen WAY behind on these #NaBloPoMo posts. But now it is time to play catch up, so you will be seeing more of them this week than next week.

The topic for January 7th was: What is your favorite song that gives you energy?

The simple answer is all of them, the long answer which gets into more detail, is that I love all types of music and if it isn't Celtic then it gives me energy. I love me some Celtic music, but I normally only listen to it when I am getting ready for bed; so my body is programmed to fall asleep listening to it. I have a playlist for just about everything I do during the day. There is the wake-up mix, all songs have an upbeat vibe; the Cleaning playlist which is a mix of pop, rock and some alternative. The blogging playlist consists of just about everything, country, rap, rock, pop, alternative, and even some oldies! Right now, there is one song that is on every play list and it is Hinder - Thing for You, it's an older Hinder song, but I love the lyrics and the music is something I can get into no matter what.

As I've stated in other posts during this NaBloPoMo, I'm a big music lover and will listen to anything, my playlists jump from rock, to rap and then over to country with no rhyme or reason. I used to be really OCD about how songs were lined up on a mixed cd or playlist, and would only put country with country and so forth, but as I have gotten older it seems as though I like an eclectic mix more than the structure I used to freak out over!

So what is your favorite song to get an energy boost from?
