Why Werewolves?

Hello hello, beautiful people!
How is everyone doing today? I firstly want to give a huge thank you to My Chaotic Ramblings for having me! What loves they are!

So as you might know, Silence of the Wolves, my debut novel is coming out on the 26th of June. I thought I might do a bit of a post about the fantastical mythical beings I’ve chosen to write about!
The main body of the book and the rest of the series features mainly werewolves. ‘Why?’ I hear you ask! (Actually I don’t but, you know, just roll with it!)

I have always had a strange obsession with everything supernatural, mythical and a little hard to explain. I have an unwavering belief that each and every myth has come from somewhere! I mean, I don’t necessarily believe there are actual men who can transform into wolves loitering around our local woodland… (Although, that would be possibly the most amazing thing ever if it were true.) But I do think that there must be some truth to the myth otherwise where would it have come from?

As far as my spiritual belief goes, I have no doubt what so ever that spirits of some description exist. There is an energy that keeps each and every one of us alive, it makes us who we are. That has to go somewhere when we eventually die, be it back into the earth, be it reincarnated, be it haunting the people who haven’t yet passed on- it goes somewhere. I have nothing but respect for that energy. In the same manner, I have nothing but respect for all religion. It may not be what I choose to put my faith in, but by the same hand, the teachings have to have come from somewhere.
A wise old soul perhaps?
I myself, choose to put my faith in nature, mother earth if you will. She literally keeps us alive. Trees allow us to breath, water allows us to drink, plants and wildlife allow us to eat, the sun allows us to grow. So in a nutshell, nature, the earth and all of its magical wonderfulness is my creed. It has my undying love and respect.

That brings me to passion number two, I love animals. I love them so much that I practically live in a zoo. I have two lovely doggies, two cats and a lizard. My other half and I are planning on trying to get some land so we can have a small farm. I really love animals. I’ve got my diploma in Advanced Animal Behaviour because they fascinate me! And of all animals, I love wolves the most, wolves, dogs, African wild dogs… You name it.
So when it came to writing a book, the first thing that came to mind was the supernatural, and of all the supernatural- werewolves seemed most appropriate. (I feel I ought to point out that I had only just got my husky boy, Oribt, at the time. So he perhaps had a little to do with that decision too!)

I absolutely LOVE the idea of shapeshifters, I mean come on! Turning into an animal of your choice at will? That has to be one of the most awesome abilities known to mankind, fictional or otherwise!
So, I would just like to say that no, unfortunately I am not a werewolf. (Though I secretly wish I were…) I just love wolves. And magic. And everything in between.

If you’re going to write a book, write it about what inspires you, write it about your passion. Because that passion will leap out of the pages! (Or at least I hope it does!)
If you don’t think I am a madwoman at this point, I take my hat off to you! You are one hell of a legend for getting this far!

All I can say from here is, check Silence of the Wolves out! You never know… You just might like it! I hope you like what you read!

P.S – Come visit me!

I am a born and bred wild child. (Or I like to think so anyway!)
I moved to sunny Folkestone UK to escape and find my feet as, well whatever I was destined to be! But alas, my short attention span made finding that destiny a little difficult! One day I came across a diary entry that made me laugh so hard; I actually fell off my chair. (Yes, this can happen!)
I decided that the entry was so funny; it needed to be shared with the world! So I started writing, and attempted to turn it into a novel. Though to this day, that novel remains unfinished, it will always be the novel that got me started, and showed me what I was passionate about.
Honestly? I have aspired to be everything from a Private Investigator to a Zoo Keeper with my career; my interests change so quickly that I could never stick with one! Writing gives me the freedom to choose; I can be a cold-hearted assassin in love with a poet one day and the secret lesbian lover of a politician the next!
All my life, I have had a strong, unwavering passion for anything supernatural, spiritual and slightly unexplainable, I love the idea that there can be something completely fantastical lurking beneath the confines of normality. So of course, mythical creatures of all shapes and sizes dominate most of my work!
In a nutshell, I am a creative crazy bean, living with my lovely husband and a house full of too many animals! I've always secretly wished I were a werewolf of some description, but have come to realise that I will have to settle for writing about them instead! I'm happiest in the sun with my head in a good book!
All I can say from here is I hope you like what you read!<
