Personal Energy.. Where do you draw yours from?

31 December 2012
As part of my new goals for 2013 I am participating in a NaBloPoMo through a facebook group. For those of you that are not familiar with NaBloPoMo, it is National Blog Posting Month, where participants are given a list of prompts for the month and we type our hearts out. Today's prompt is: From where do you draw your energy?

When I first read the prompt I thought of food, though my energy doesn't really come from food. When I need to get up move, write a post (like now) or clean; I normally start a playlist on my computer and have at it. So my energy really comes from music. I can be tired and falling asleep and once my music starts I am up and ready to move. It does not matter what type of music, slow sad country, pop, or even rock; I listen to everything and the beat never fails to get me motivated to do what needs to be done. Right now my top five songs on any given playlist are:

Wanted by Hunter Hayes

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

Tattoo by Jordin Sparks

Blow Me (One Last Kiss) by Pink

And last but not least, and proving that I am a mother to a pre-teen
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift

And yes dear readers, I realize some of these songs are old, and some a 30 year old should never be caught listening too (BSB, N*SYNC and even NKOTB are on the playlist), but who can pass up a song that is not only catchy but has a really good beat? So yes, I freely admit that I have held onto my teenybopper love of boybands; I LOVE some Taylor Swift; and I have even been know to listen to a little Justin Beiber here and there.

Music is where I draw my energy from, it is what motivates me and what helps to keep me sane on days that the chaos of my life becomes too much. Where do you find your energy?

Oh my - I only know one of those songs! What rock have I been hiding under? Thank you for exposing me to something new on this first day of 2013!

I draw my energy from my son - he's always busy doing on thing or another, watching him helps me get going!

  1. I love the play list! Pink is one of my favs right now :)

Hehehe, that Pink song is so on my playlist too :) Where do I draw my energy? I have to admit... it's coffee. I can hardly survive without the caffeine. It's bad...

Music is such a great source of energy! I use it to calm myself down or pump myself up. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of electronica to get in the mood for writing. For exercise, I've been listening to a lot of rock like the Black Keys, Muse, and other songs that have a really strong driving beat. Love it!

Music can be a powerful source of motivation. When i write I might use ambient music or Celtic, I generally don't use music with an inconsistent wave pattern as it can interact with my concentration. However, I think we can all draw power from music at one time or another. Thank you for sharing.

I'm a huge music fan, too. I find that I push play and I'm ready to buckle down. Strange how that happens...

I love the old NKOTB, not so much the new, but my daughter's think they discovered NKOTB, had to show them an old poster that I had shoved in a box.
