Summer Fit Learning #Review

As a mom I worry about keeping my kids learning throughout the summer. I know the last few years they have forgotten more than they learned. Summer has always been a time for playing and not doing any “work” for my kids, but this year I knew that something had to be done.

I was given the chance to review Summer Fit Learning for grades 3-4.

The Summer Fit Learning series is the most comprehensive summer workbook available and provides parents with the tools to keep their kids active during the summer months in a fun and enjoyable way.

Summer Fit Learning is available for grades P-K, K-1, 1-2, 2-3,3-4,and 4-5. With Harm going into 4th grade, I knew that 3-4 would be her best bet. Summer Fit Learning is a 10 week program that includes daily activities and exercises based on grade level. There is progress chart in the front of the book that allows your child or you to check off each week as it is completed, you can also track physical progress on this page.
Each week (1-10) includes an Incentive Contract which allows you and your child to come up with a reward (incentive) to complete each section. Each day ( 5 days per week) has 2 check boxes, one for mind, and one for body. There is also a section for your child to write down three things that they did during the week to show their weekly value( They are given a Core Value for the Week on the Let’s Get Started page). Each day has a mind section for working on things they have learned previously and some things that will be new to them(grade level they are going into) and a Body section where they can chose their workout from the list given.

Summer Fit also offers additional resources which include online book report templates, educational games, and lots more information to make your summer fun and active.

Harm has completed the first 4 weeks and I have seen a great improvement in her ability to do the exercises list ( and then more). She seems to be enjoying the reading and math in the mind sections. I have also noticed that she seems to be retaining more information than she was at the beginning of the summer. So, if you are looking for a way to keep your child active in both mind and body, make sure you pick up a copy of Summer Fit Learning based on their current(move up) grade level!!
