A Homemade Christmas: Creative Ideas for an Earth-Friendly, Frugal, Festive Holiday

A HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS shows the entire family how to connect with the true meaning of the holidays with instructions on how to bake delicious but simple festive cookies, decorate the house for the entire block to admire (but still be green!), and create your own gifts such as snow globes and advent calendars.

I received a copy of the book and decided that now would be a perfect time to sit down with the kids and get started on our Holiday decorating and gifts.  There are so many wonderful ideas in the book and most of them will cost you almost nothing to make if you use what you have lying around the house.
There are a total of 5 chapters in the book:
Chapter 1: Greeting
Want to save some money on Christmas cards or maybe you are like me and like to make your own? Well this chapter is a wonderful one for that! From making a Holiday Stamp with the kids to Reusing Paint Color Chips(those wonderful little color cards you pick up all the time) to make cards, there are ideas for everything here!
Chapter 2: Trimming
There are a ton of great decorating ideas here along with a few crafts to try! We are going to be making our own stockings thanks to this little section!
Chapter 3: Cooking
We usually have almost the same exact thing every year, but with all the wonderful ideas and recipes in this section we are going to add a few things to the menu!
Chapter 4: Giving
From learning a new way to wrap or present a gift, to making stamped stationary this section will make coming up with gift ideas very simple. The kids are wanting to make some stationary for their teachers!!
Chapter 5: Celebrating
There are some great party ideas in this chapter! We were wanting to have a few parties where the kids could be involved without too much hassle and this chapter has a few great ideas! We are having a Make-it-and-take-it party where everyone will get to create a few ornaments for themselves! This is perfect as we normally make all of our ornaments anyway.

Overall this is one book I am glad to have in the house and I know that we will be coming back to it year after year!
